Terms of use

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and CalSimple (“we”, “us”) for the CalSimple app and this website. By using CalSimple you accept them and our Privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use CalSimple.

2. Not medical advice

CalSimple is a tracking tool, not a medical device and not medical advice. Calories and nutrients are estimates, whether they come from a photo analyzed by AI, from what you type, or from a product database, and they can be wrong. Your daily targets come from standard formulas, not from a clinician.

Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before making big changes to how you eat, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, managing a condition such as diabetes, or have a history of disordered eating. Don’t use CalSimple to diagnose, treat or manage a medical condition.

3. Your account

• You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep your device and that account secure.
• An account is for one person. You must be at least 13 to use CalSimple.
• You can delete your account at any time in the app or by email. How to delete your account.

4. CalSimple Premium, the free trial and billing

• Without a subscription you get a limited number of free AI scans each day (a meal photo, a food label or a described meal; currently 2 a day), which may change. CalSimple Premium removes that limit; the fair-use limit below still applies. Fix results, manual entry, barcode lookups, saved foods, water, weight logging and your progress are free.
• CalSimple Premium is sold through the App Store as a yearly or monthly subscription, or as Lifetime, a one-time purchase. The price is shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy.
• The yearly plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your Apple ID is charged for the first year when it ends.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your iPhone’s Settings under your name, then Subscriptions.
• Lifetime is paid once and never renews. It unlocks CalSimple Premium for as long as we offer CalSimple, on the Apple ID you bought it with. Buying Lifetime doesn’t cancel a yearly or monthly subscription you already have: cancel that one in Settings so it doesn’t renew.
• Deleting the app or your CalSimple account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in Settings first.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies.
• To keep the service fast for everyone, we may limit unusually heavy use, such as a very large number of scans in a day.

5. AI estimates

Meal analysis, including the health score and its reason, is done by an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic). Results are generated automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Review each entry, and use Fix results or edit the numbers when something looks off.

6. Your content

Your photos, including progress photos, and your entries are yours. You give us permission to store, process and display them only to run CalSimple for you, which includes sending a meal photo, a food label photo, a description or your correction to our AI provider for analysis. Only upload photos you have the right to use.

7. Acceptable use

Please don’t:

• try to access another person’s account or data;
• reverse engineer, scrape, overload or disrupt the app or our servers;
• use CalSimple for anything illegal, or resell or redistribute it.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

8. Our app and brand

The app, its design and the CalSimple name and logo belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use CalSimple on Apple devices you own or control, under these terms and the App Store’s usage rules.

9. Changes

We may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll let you know in the app. Continuing to use CalSimple after a change means you accept it.

10. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for CalSimple, its content, maintenance, support or any claims about it. If CalSimple fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.

11. Disclaimers and liability

CalSimple is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be error-free or always available, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on its estimates. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about them or CalSimple is resolved by the competent courts of Vietnam.
